Houston, Texas – June 30, 2026 —
On June 25, 2026, Dr. Verna Caddie, Founder and President of Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University (LECBU), held a press conference to address recent public statements concerning the University. Standing in solidarity with Dr. Caddie was civil rights leader Ricky Jason, a protégé of the late Dick Gregory.
During the press conference, Dr. Caddie addressed what the University describes as a campaign of public criticism directed toward LECBU and its leadership. The University also discussed its decision to revoke a previously awarded honorary recognition following an internal review conducted in accordance with its policies and institutional standards.
LECBU states that it remains committed to addressing disagreements through appropriate legal and professional channels and will continue to protect its reputation and the integrity of its programs.
Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University emphasizes that it is an accredited Bible-based Christian university dedicated to recognizing and empowering men and women who exemplify outstanding leadership, service, faith, humanitarianism, and professional achievement. The University’s mission remains focused on academic excellence, Christian values, and community impact.
“Despite recent public controversy, our commitment to serving our students, graduates, and communities remains unwavering,” said Dr. Verna Caddie. “We will continue to operate with integrity, uphold our institutional standards, and remain focused on our mission of recognizing individuals who make meaningful contributions to society.”
At this time, the University will have no further comment regarding ongoing disputes and remains focused on its educational mission and upcoming academic programs.
