Einar Haraldsson

From serving with the Icelandic police to working as a bodyguard for Hollywood star Sandra Bullock and eventually building an international acting career, Einar Haraldsson has taken a remarkably unconventional route to the screen. Today, the Icelandic actor is establishing himself across European and American productions, combining real-world experience with a commanding presence suited to film and television.

From Iceland to Hollywood

Born in Iceland, Haraldsson graduated from the Police Academy in 1976 and served in the police force until 1993. His international connection began early in his career. In 1977, while serving as General Secretary of the Icelandic Section of the International Police Association (IPA), he spent six weeks with the Los Angeles Police Department.

During that stay in Los Angeles, several LAPD officers suggested that his presence and personality could translate well to acting. Although filmmaking was still far from his immediate career plans, the experience planted an idea that would eventually become a major part of his life.

After leaving the police force, Haraldsson spent 10 years working as a bodyguard for renowned actress Sandra Bullock. His time in that environment gave him a unique connection to the entertainment world before he ultimately returned to Iceland.

A New Chapter on Screen

Since 2019, Haraldsson has devoted himself to film and television full-time. He has appeared in numerous Icelandic films and television productions while also expanding into projects across Europe and the United States.

His transition from law enforcement and security to acting has given him a distinctive professional background. The discipline, physical presence, and experience he developed during his earlier career have become natural assets in roles that demand authority and intensity.

His performance in Angelo Borer’s action thriller No Time to Think brought further international recognition, earning him the 2024 Best Actor Award at the Munich Hall of Honour festival in Germany.

He has also been nominated for Best International Supporting Actor at the IFFA Awards 2026 in Australia for his role in the survival thriller Fall 2: Deadpoint. The film received recognition across eight international categories, including Best International Film, Best International Director, Best International Lead Actor and Actress, Best International Screenplay, and Best International Cinematography.

The IFFA Awards ceremony is scheduled for March 27, 2027, at The Edge cultural center in Federation Square, Melbourne.

Into the Action

Haraldsson’s career is now moving into another major chapter with Death Rising, a military action thriller scheduled for release in 2027. Recently filmed in Colombia, the production follows an elite Special Forces team sent behind enemy lines to dismantle a powerful cartel with connections reaching into political and military circles.

Haraldsson stars alongside Joe Chen as one of the combat-hardened leaders of the mission. The story promises jungle warfare, urban conflict, ambushes, betrayal, and a fight for survival as the team discovers that the threat extends far beyond what they initially expected.
